I Couldn't Fix It—And That Was the Lesson
Sometimes the problem can wait—even when your brain says it absolutely cannot.

Right before our family vacation to Myrtle Beach, I made what I thought was going to be a quick attempt to log into an old Instagram account.
Quick.
That's funny now.
Somehow, in the process, I ended up linking things to my teenager's Instagram account. And what followed was exactly the kind of tech mess that makes you want to throw the whole phone away.
I researched.
I Googled.
I tried the tips.
I went through settings.
I tried another suggestion.
And another.
Nothing worked.
Normally, that would have been frustrating enough. But this one hit a little differently.
I had just started over.
After not being able to access my old Instagram account, I finally decided to create a new one for Technically Tahquetta Designs.
And I was EXCITED about it.
It felt fresh.
I wasn't trying to revive an account that wasn't going anywhere. I had a clean slate. New content. New strategy. New energy.
I really felt like, Okay. This time I'm going to build this differently.
Then this happened.
So instead of heading to Myrtle Beach excited about vacation, I spent a good portion of the ride trying to solve an Instagram problem.
And the more things didn't work, the more determined I became to fix it.
You know how you tell yourself, “Let me try ONE more thing…”
Yeah.
One more thing turns into another 30 minutes real quick.
And eventually, I realized what I was doing.
We were headed on vacation.
To Myrtle Beach.
With my family.
And I was sitting there staring at Instagram settings.
The problem wasn't going anywhere. Instagram wasn't suddenly going to say, “You know what, Tahquetta? You've worked hard enough. Here you go.” 😂
I couldn't fix it.
And strangely enough, that became the lesson.
Sometimes, you have to be willing to leave something unfixed.
Not because it doesn't matter.
Not because you're giving up.
But because everything that needs your attention doesn't deserve your attention right now.
That's a hard lesson when you run a business.
There's always something.
A website needs updating.
An email needs answering.
Something isn't connecting correctly.
A post isn't performing the way you expected.
An idea isn't coming together.
And when you're used to being the person who figures things out, an unresolved problem can feel like an invitation to keep working until you solve it.
But sometimes you won't.
At least not today.
And I realized I had a choice.
I could arrive at Myrtle Beach still mentally sitting in the car fighting with Instagram...
or I could go on vacation.
The Instagram issue would still be there later.
This particular trip with my family wouldn't.
So I stopped trying to fix it.
And guess what?
We had a GREAT time.
The lesson I brought home wasn't some secret Instagram trick.
It was much more useful than that:
Just because I can't fix something right now doesn't mean I have to let it ruin what's happening right now.
There will always be another problem to solve.
Another notification.
Another business task.
Another thing that didn't go according to plan.
But there are also dinners with your family. Trips. Laughing until somebody's stomach hurts. Sitting by the water. Random conversations in the car. Moments you don't realize you'll miss until they're gone.
I'm learning to be a little more careful about which one gets my attention.
Some things can wait.
And sometimes, being unable to fix it is exactly the reminder you need.
